Florian Loretan's blog on Drupal, creativity and more

Munich, Germany

It has been a few months since Munich was announced as the location of the next european DrupalCon, but much of what has happened since then has been mostly invisible to the community. Many people attend DrupalCon, but few people are aware of what goes into preparing such an event, and this is what I would like to share with you in this post.

Wunderkraut is the name of a new company that I co-founded with three fellow developers from the Munich Drupal User Group. I've been lucky to work with them on multiple occasions, and this consolidation of our different skills came as a natural fit. My activities will still consist of doing everything to build kick-ass websites and travelling around the globe to spread the Drupal love, but I will be doing so through Wunderkraut.

The Drupal community is a very diverse one. So when the idea came up to make a viral video to promote the DrupalDevDays and invite Dries Buytaert (founder of the Drupal project), we didn't have a shortage of talent in the local community.

As a member of the organizing team, I am happy to invite you to the Drupal Dev Days (aka DrupalCamp Germany 2010), which will take place on May 8th and 9th in Munich. We already announced the event on many German-speaking channels, but I would like to invite those of you who might be coming from further away.

No, I'm not talking about trees as a data structure, I'm talking about branches where you can actually hang stuff. Apparently people liked the coat-hanger tree in the hallway of our apartment, and those who couldn't see it in person asked for pictures. It took more time to decide how to make it than to actually do it, but we had a lot of fun doing both.

As it was announced during the closing session at DrupalCon, there are a lot of local Drupal events going on in the coming months, so it is no surprise that wherever I go I happen to find them on my way. I'm currently staying at my girlfriend's parent's house in Munich for a few days, so I got to attend the DUG meet-up in the GAST im Gasteig, a cool and innovative lounge-restaurant.
